AFTER-WORK ACTIVITIES FOR YOUR WORKATION IN PACIFICA

Make the most of your Pacifica Workation with these exciting activities, perfect for after work or during your lunch break!

Catch the Perfect Wave

Hang 10 at Pacifica State Beach, known as one of the best surf beaches in the Bay Area. This is a beautiful, mile long, crescent-shaped beach located off the scenic Pacific Coast Highway and is also home to the world’s “most beautiful Taco Bell.” No need to worry about packing your board, there are a number of nearby businesses that offer rentals.

Lay Out on the Sand

Pacifica is home to four unique beaches all perfect for lounging with a good book and listening to the sounds of the waves. Conveniently located in close proximity to hotels (some of which are only steps away) and dining options, going to the beach is a great place to unwind before or after your busy day.

  • Pacifica State Beach: Great for surfing, home to a bike/walking trail, the world's most beautiful Taco Bell and whale watching in the spring

  • Rockaway Beach: Dramatic headlands and picturesque shoreline, quaint shops - featuring local makers, scenic walking trails and the Pacifica Visitor Information Center

  • Sharp Park Beach: One of California’s few black sand beaches, easy access to the local shops and restaurants on Palmetto and fishing on the Pacifica Pier

  • Esplanade Beach: Secluded beach accessed via a set of trails and stairs and a leash free dog beach

Play a Round of Golf

Sharp Park Golf Course is a public par 72, 18 hole golf course designed by Alister MacKenzie (designer of Augusta National - home of the Masters Tournament). While golfing, take in the views of the Pacific Ocean, mountains and headlands. The original spanish style hacienda club house is still standing, since being built in 1932, and houses the starter/golf area, lounge, and dining room.

Go Fishing

The
Pacifica Pier is known for some of the best fishing in the area. The pier is the only one in the Bay Area where you can both fish for free and without a license. Salmon, Striped Bass, and Dungeness Crab are some of the fish you can expect to catch and you may even spot a whale or two while you are there. No need to pack your gear, there are places in town where you can rent everything you need.

Take A Hike(s)

Pacifica is a true nature lover's paradise and is home to a number of hikes/trails that provide breathtaking views and allow you to get up close and personal with nature.

A great hike for all skill levels is
Milagra Ridge, as the path is mostly level and paved. Hikers and bikers can take in the views of the city and coastline as they make their way along this trail. The area is also home to several endangered species including the Mission Blue and San Bruno Elfin Butterflies and the California Red-Legged Frog.

Enjoy the wildflowers on your way up to
Mori Point for views of the coastline and some possible whale sightings. The bluff protrudes out into the ocean and offers views from Point Reyes to Pedro Point. Benches are available for sitting and enjoying the vista and sunset.

San Pedro Valley Park is a large area with a variety of trails for all ages and skill levels and 360 degree views of the Bay Area.

Climb up to a 1,200-foot-high summit at Sweeny Ridge, covered with coastal scrub and grassland. In the springtime the California poppies and other wildflowers take over the hillside. Be sure to look for the stone plaque honoring the explorer who discovered this spot in 1769.

Pedro Point Headlands covers 246 acres with a number of trails for visitors to enjoy. The most popular Bluff Trail provides gorgeous views of headland cliffs, San Pedro Rock, Pacific coastline and more!

Great for both hiking and biking,
Devil’s Slide is a 1.3-mile trail along highway 1 with lookout points to take in the views of the pacific ocean and coastline.

Watch the Sunset

To view a picturesque sunset take a short hike out to Pedro Point in Pacifica. This spectacular view point is located on the
Bluff Trail in Pedro Point Headlands that tower 600 feet above Pacifica State Beach. In addition to an Instagram worthy sunset, visitors can snap a shot of the variety of wildflowers and species (some of which are endangered) all of which call the Pedro Point Headlands home.
